Approaches to Boston Harbor

Boston has a long history of shipwrecks, so be careful as the depths vary very quickly. If approaching from the North, watch for Graves Light and then Deer Island Lighthouse to guide you inside the Inner Harbor. If coming from the South, watch for Minot Lighthouse and Boston Lighthouse, be aware of Hardings Ledge, and take the Narrows to get inside Deer Island light.

The chart below is NOT to be used for navigation as a few things changed over the centuries

Transient Mooring in the Inner Harbor

Inside the Inner Harbor, you can now do a transient mooring at full-day or half-day at Boston Harbor Water Marina.

“Located on historic Long Wharf in Boston Harbor, Boston Waterboat Marina is just steps from Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market, New England Aquarium, Old Ironsides, and countless world-class restaurants. Charm and spectacular views punctuate this quiet and safe marina. Accommodating vessels from 30 ft. up to 150 ft. long, Boston Waterboat Marina’s #1 mission is service. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff promises your visit to be a very pleasant experience.” This quote is directly from their webpage

Docking is very limited in the inner harbor, or you could also check some of the marinas in the surrounding towns. Below is a link to dockwa.com, I zoomed here to get marinas in Quincy, Hingham, and Hull.
